OBITUARY

Ada (Petershagen) Wietsma of Highland passed away on June 4, 2021 at age 89 when she joined her beloved husband Rienk in the arms of their Lord and Savior. She was born in Blumenthal, Germany on June 6, 1931 to Johann and Auguste (Rozyczka) Petershagen.

After emigrating to the United States with her parents and brother, Ada worked in the family diner where she met the love of her life, Rienk. They ultimately settled in Wappingers Falls where they lovingly raised their family. Ada worked tirelessly to care for those around her creating a home filled with warmth and hospitality.

Ada was devoted to her husband of 56 years, Rienk. She is survived by her children: Manuela Lindemulder, Pamela Cabrera (Harry), Eric Wietsma (Tracy) and Tom Wietsma (Meg). She was a beloved Grandma and Oma to her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Nicholas and Rebecca Lindemulder; Natalie Cabrera; Zachary, Kyle, Matthew and Jack Wietsma; Olivia, Kate and Johann Wietsma; and Emma and Dylan Lindemulder. Ada is also survived by her sister-in-law Annieliese Petershagen as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished son-in-law Cornelius Lindemulder and her treasured siblings: Edith Harms and Harold Petershagen.

Ada will be fondly remembered for her passionate pride in her German heritage and her abundant hospitality shown to all who visited her home. Friends and family across generations have precious memories of her homemade baked goods. Ada’s family gathered together on May 22, 2021 to celebrate her milestone 90th birthday.

Calling hours will be held at Delehanty Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:00am at the funeral home, followed by burial at Wappingers Falls Cemetery.

The family requests donations be made in Ada’s memory to Christ Health Care Ministry (Christhealthcareministry.org; 43 NY-17A Goshen, NY 10924).
