Alice J. Kanan

1933 - 2024

OBITUARY

Alice Emsley Kanan passed away on, August 11, 2024 after a long illness. Alice was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on April 16,1933 to Joseph W. and Anna Braig Emsley. She graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and Krissler Business Institute. Her marriage brought her to Boca Raton Florida, where she raised her two sons. She was predeceased by her former husband Robert Ledrich Sr. Alice retired from the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Poughkeepsie, where she enjoyed her career as a loan officer. She married Joseph Kanan of Middletown NY in November 1989. Joe predeceased her in June of 2007. They made their home in Palm City, Florida where they were members of Monarch Country Club. Alice loved playing golf and was active in several leagues. She also loved her weekly games of Mahjong with her friends. At 5 o'clock each day Alice could be found watching her favorite TV show " The Five". Alice is survived by her sons, Robert Ledrich and his wife Debbie of Clinton Corners NY and Stephen Ledrich and his wife Wendy of Wappingers Falls, NY. Also surviving are her grandsons, Robert and his wife Chrissy of Pawling NY, Michael and his partner, Shelley Baisley of Dudley Ma and Patrick Ledrich of Wappingers Falls and her two great granddaughters, Amelia and Emma Ledrich of Massachusetts along with their mother, Lisa Sullo. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Emsley and his wife Beverly of Winter Park, Florida and two nephews Joseph and David and their families. Also surviving, are her dear step granddaughters, Christine DiPaolo and her husband Mark and Kimberly Schauer and her husband Jason and their families of Middletown, NY. A special Thank you to Hudson Valley Hospice for their kind and compassionate care and especially Michele and Zach who always brightened her day. Services will be private. Donations in her name to St Jude's Hospital, Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Hudson Valley Hospice will be greatly appreciated.
