OBITUARY
Barbara M. (Straley) Hamm (93) Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2025, at Vassar Hospital. She was born on July 17, 1931, in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was the daughter of Joseph Straley and Veronica Fixer Straley. She attended and graduated from Wappingers Schools and worked as a telephone operator at NY Telephone Co. in Poughkeepsie. She went on to work at and eventually retire from IBM East Fishkill. She was preceded in death by her husband William F. Hamm, her siblings Richard Straley, Edward Straley and Audrey Piacente, Sister-in-law Martha Duncan and her brothers-in-law George Duncan, William Duncan and Carmine Piacente. She is survived by her children Barbara Caprara (Mark) of Wappingers Falls and William J. Hamm (Darlene) of California, her brothers Phillip Straley and Thomas Straley and Sister-in-Laws Barbara Straley, Nancy Duncan, Michele Straley and Sandy Straley, Grandchildren; Bryan Meiswinkel (Daisy) of Wappingers Falls, William E. Hamm and Jared Hamm of California and several Nieces and Nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, June 6, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. At the Delehanty Funeral Home, Wappingers Falls, NY. Entombment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be sent to the Fishkill United Methodist Church, 38 Broad St., Fishkill, NY 12524.

Barbara & Bill, I so sorry for the loss of your mother. Your mom was so kind and her infectious smile light up the whole room, May the peace of the Lord be with you and your family at this time of sorrow.
Bill and Barb: Your Mom was one of the kindest and nicest people anyone could ever meet. I have very fond memories as far back as fifth grade. Cheryl and I send our deepest condolences to you and your families. You will all be in our prayers, and there is no doubt your Mom will be resting in peace.
I am sorry to hear about your Mom. She was a good woman with a big heart. May she rest in peace ! She and your family will be in my prayer
