1953 - 2022

OBITUARY

Beverly Lynn Smith passed away at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, on December 13, 2022, after a short illness. She was born on December 9, 1953 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of James B. and Barbara Ann (Vincent) Bain. She earned her Degree as an Executive Secretary from The Berkeley School in White Plains in 1974. She worked at Vassar Hospital for 23 years, first in Social Services and then as the Clerical Supervisor in the Radiology Department. She most recently worked for Dr. Surinder Jindal, as Office Manager, retiring in 2018. She lived all of her adult life in Dutchess County.

She married Perry O. Smith in 1976 with whom she enjoyed 46 anniversaries. She was the mother of two children and was predeceased by her oldest, Brett-Marie Smith. She is survived by her husband; her daughter Brittany (Becker) and son-in-law Thomas Becker and their children Lennon and Avery of Tarboro, NC. Beverly is also survived by several siblings, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

She loved touring historic sites, taking in the numerous locations in the Hudson Valley and trying to find sites of interest when traveling. She was a multi-talented lady with an eye for decorating, as well as knitting, crocheting, acrylic pour painting, and photography. Her summers were spent tending her gardens, where she especially liked growing lavender and seeing how big the dinner plate dahlias would grow. Of all her activities, she best loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother, spending as much time with family as possible. She was a bright light who taught us how to love, live, laugh and survive - she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Arrangements have been made with Delehanty Funeral Home Inc.(delehantyfuneral.com) where calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 20th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Glioblastoma Foundation (glioblastomafoundation.org).

Our deepest condolences Perry to you and your family. Beverly was a kind woman with a warm soul. I remember she was the first person to welcome us to the neighborhood on our very first walk around the block when we moved in May 2021. That was just the person she was, always welcoming, joyful, and sincere. Our prayers are with you.
