OBITUARY:
Cheryl Lynn Resek, a former resident of Staatsburg / Wappingers Falls, and recently of New Windsor, NY, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 28, 2026; at the age of 59. She was born on February 17, 1967 in Poughkeepsie, NY, daughter of the late Ronald A. & Patricia A. (Vetter) Nevins. Cheryl attended the Wappinger Central Schools, and graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School, class of 1985.
Cheryl was a dedicated worker throughout her life, the last 4-years she’s worked in public school transportation, starting as a bus monitor and she was proud to have worked her way to become a driver; something which she aspired to be from her youth, it was her dream to be a bus driver, and she did. She loved being around and helping children, especially her own. Cheryl loved being a mother, that was her true calling. Cheryl was born to be a mom. Not only to her own kids, but to everyone around her.
She also worked alongside her partner Eddie with their food truck ‘Eddie Churro Factory’ at the Renegade’s Stadium Lot, for the last 5-years.
Cheryl enjoyed traveling and spontaneous adventures; she loved the beach, and watching the seagulls. She loved taking pictures of the sky; the sunrise, the sunset, and the moon. Above all she will be remembered for having a huge heart, she was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need, no matter what it was. She made sure everyone around her felt loved.
Cheryl is survived by her two children, her daughter Erica Resek and partner Garrett Vigrass; her son Colin J. Resek and his wife Ashley.
