OBITUARY
Christopher J. Kazes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He was 76 years old. Born in New York, NY, to Christopher and Mary Kazes, Chris grew up with a deep appreciation for the wonders of the world. His love of photography, astronomy, geology, nature, and weather filled his days with curiosity and discovery. He also had a passion for travel, creating cherished memories alongside his wife and best friend, Barbara. Chris met the love of his life, Barbara Cardascia, in 1966, and they married in July 1969. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising three loving daughters: Lori, Dina (and her husband Anthony Cuchelo), and Kristen (and her husband Kirk Mullen). His greatest joy came from his role as "Grambo" and “Swamp Monster” to his five adoring grandchildren: Austin (and his fiancé Angela Herrmann), Evan (and his fiancé Krystal Gilleo), Kyle, Charlotte, Jace, and his great-granddaughter, Violet. After dedicating 30 years of service to Verizon as Telephone Technician, Chris retired in 1999, allowing him more time to pursue his interests and spend time with his family. He will be remembered for his determined spirit, kind heart, and the love he shared with those around him. Services will be held at Delehanty Funeral Home in Wappingers Falls on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Chris’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, curiosity, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
