OBITUARY

Cynthia McDonald (Butler) born October 21, 1944, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family Friday, August 4, 2023.She was the oldest daughter of Vincent and Gladys Butler who proceeded her. On August 25, 1968, she married John R. McDonald at Saints Peter and Paul in Mt. Vernon, NY. They were married for 37 years until his passing in 2005."Cindy" was a stay-at-home mom until she became the receptionist at the Southern Dutchess News for nearly 30 years. She loved her children Christopher J. McDonald, Victoria L. McDonald and John R. McDonald JR who still survive her. She is also survived by her sister Phyllis Butler Lorenz, brother-in-law Matt Lorenz, daughter in law Stephanie McDonald, grandchildren Ryan, Lydia and Ellis McDonald, her fur grandson Hudson along with nieces, nephews and their children. Cindy enjoyed dancing, music especially rock and roll as well as car rides in the mountains. Most recently she loved making photo memory albums. She valued her friends like they were her family especially the core four Carol, Julie, Andy and Melina. Also, her "adopted" daughter Alicia Gleeson. For all that knew Cynthia aka Cindy aka The Goddess loved her and she loved them back. She will be missed tremendously by all of the lives she has touched. Calling hours will be held at Delehanty Funeral Home on Monday, August 7th from 2-7pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

So sorry for your loss. Cindy was an amazing lady. Seeing her at John's shows or playing babysitter at the bowling alley she was always smiling. Prayers to your family. She will be missed.
