OBITUARY:
David A. Lyday, a longtime Village of Wappingers Falls resident, passed away on January 1, 2026 at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY; at the age of 72. He was born in Tulsa, OK on December 29, 1953, son of Nelda (Hall) Lyday and the late Jack Shelby Lyday.
David worked for many years at IBM in East Fishkill, and The Roseton Generating Facility in the Town of Newburgh, where he was a chief operator until he retired. He enjoyed computers, golf and computer gaming. He was a very smart man, and was loved by everyone who knew him. He also loved his furry friends, especially his beloved Killian and Patrick.
Along with his beloved mother Lyday, David is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Theresa J. (Chase) Lyday; Peter J. Csizmar; his grandson Michael R. (Spirit) Kelly, and his four great-grandchildren: Mila, Emma, Olivia and Nova; his two sisters, Sally (Frank) Greco, Marrie Jane Lyday, and his brother, Robert Lyday.
David is also survived by a special brother-in-law Hon. Raymond (Dawna) Chase; his special nieces and nephews: Julie Greco, Evette Chase and Nick Chase
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the DELEHANTY FUNERAL HOME, 64 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York. Interment will be private at the discretion of his family. In lieu of flowers and services, the family wishes for memorial donations to be made in David’s memory to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
