1955 - 2025

OBITUARY

Donald Vincent Kane Jr., 69, of Wappingers Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, on December 12, 1955, he was the son of the late Violet and Donald Kane. A proud retired plumber steamfitter with Local 21, Don dedicated 36 years to his craft. Beyond his professional life, Don had a lifelong passion for restoring and riding vintage Vespa scooters. He often showcased his prized scooters at rallies, frequently earning “Best in Show” for his meticulous attention to detail and deep love for the hobby. Music was another passion in Don’s life. An avid guitarist since his youth, he found joy in playing and listening to music throughout his life. He also found peace in nature, especially in feeding the deer that visited his yard, and he had a deep affection for animals of all kinds. Above all, Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He married the love of his life, Bernadette Kane, on May 23, 1992. His family was his greatest pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Bernadette Kane; his children, Crystal Butler and her husband David Butler, Aaron Gunn and Jenelle; his cherished grandson, Nolan Kane Butler; and his sisters, Dawn and Richard Stacey, and Darlene and Thomas Brown. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lori Ann Kane. His loved ones find comfort in knowing that Don is now reunited with Lori in heaven. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Delehanty Funeral Home in Wappingers Falls. A burial service will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Wappingers Rural Cemetery.

In Loving Memory of Don Kane, my deepest sympathy to The Kane Family, I will miss our Fellow Dunkin Donuts Family Member. So many beautiful memories of Don. May God who calls our dear friend home and grants him peace and rest, give us the strength and faith to say that he indeed knows best granted him his ride to heaven.
