OBITUARY
WAPPINGER FALLS – Francis J. “Bud” Farrell, 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, after a short illness. A life-long Dutchess County resident, Bud was born on June 12, 1936, in Poughkeepsie, the son of the late Edith Christmas and John D. Farrell. He attended Roosevelt High School, Class of ’53, in Hyde Park, and he proudly served in the US Navy, 1954-1957, as a Petty Officer 2nd class. On June 15, 1958, he married Elaine V. Raffaele, who predeceased him in 2007. He worked for over 27 years at Western Publishing and then retired from IBM Fishkill after 15 years. Besides his parents, Bud was pre-deceased by his son, Francis J. Farrell, Jr. and his four brothers, Robert Farrell, Hyde Park; Richard Farrell, Carrolton, GA; Roger Farrell; and Eugene Farrell, Poughkeepsie. Bud is survived by his three daughters, Dawn Raymond (David), Cary, NC, Lori Tierney (Michael), Monroe, NC, and Bonnie Keenan (Patrick), Punta Gorda, FL, and grandchildren, Danielle Lee (Daniel), Dr. Diana Hill (Chris), Megan Tierney, Matthew Tierney, Patrick Keenan II, and Michael Keenan, two great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by long-time companion Anna Ciccone Shields and her extended family. Bud led an active life playing cards and games with his many friends at the Wappingers Senior Center. He was also an active member of the Retirees of Western Publishing. Dad, Bud, Grandpa, Grandpa Bud, Uncle Buddy will be missed by family and friends. He would always say he “lived a good life.” Bud was a 50+-year member of the WT Garner Engine Co., No. 1, Wappingers Falls, where he served as past Fire Chief. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to WT Garner Engine Co. No. 1, 25 W. Academy Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. Friends and family may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 E Main Street, Wappingers Falls, on Tuesday, January 2nd, from 4 pm - 8 pm. On Wednesday, January 3, at 10 am, there will be a prayer service at the Delehanty Funeral Home followed by a burial, with Military Honors, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.

For my Dad to see Bud again after all those years was Amazing! We're So Thankful we got to see them spend some time together. We'll never forget thier faces when they saw each other! My Mom said, "If we hear any thunder from Heaven soon, You'll know it's them again!"

Bud will be greatly missed by everyone in the Wappinger Senior Center. He was one of our long-time members, whom I affectionately called "my favorite Sailor". My condolences to Anna and their families. Rest easy, Bud.
