1950 - 2022

OBITUARY

Gary Wilfred Losee passed away on January 3, 2022 in Poughkeepsie, NY after a courageous battle against a brief illness. He was 71 years old.

Gary was born on June 20, 1950 in Fort Lawton, Seattle, Washington. He was a very talented auto mechanic and auto body specialist. His work with electronics was unsurpassed. He could fix or create anything. Gary was an avid CBer in the 70's where he was known as "The Preacher". He was a long time Amateur Ham Radio Operator (KB2PQE). He was also a member of the local ham club QSY Society. Along with his friends he would travel to every ham radio fest within a 100 mile radius, as well as attending Hamvention in Ohio every year. His other hobbies included listening to the scanner, motorcycling, scuba diving, hiking, and more.

Gary is survived by two sons, James and Matthew, and a daughter, Jennifer. He is predeceased by his parents Major (US Army Retired) Wilfred J and Sirena (nee Serini) Losee. He is survived by his former spouse Claire, and his long-time partner Noreen Krieger. Gary will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Katelyn, Hailey, Matthew, Tyler, and Isabella. He leaves behind a sister, Elizabeth (Lilette) and her spouse Joseph Weiss. A nephew, Marc Weiss and niece, Jaclyne Caballero, and several grandnephews and grandneice who always loved being around him. He will be missed by many friends. His absence will be felt year-round, but especially during the family's holiday gatherings. Marc's semi-annual pig roast will never be the same without Gary's antics. Everyone loved his stories, jokes, and warm presence.

Gary's memorial service and interment will be held at a later date, when family and friends are able to gather and celebrate his life.

Delehanty Funeral Home is honored to assist Gary’s family with arrangements.

I am SO sorry to hear this news. Gary was so much fun to talk to, laugh with, and exchange ideas with. A unique and wonderful person. He showed me all his ham equipment in that kooky car he was driving, and could talk about it for hours. Once, when I'd had a few beers he followed me home just in case I had one too many. Thoughtful and kind. And he was so proud of his family. Again, I'm so sorry.
