OBITUARY
George K. McSpedon, a longtime Wappingers Falls resident, passed away peacefully at the Hudson Valley Hospice House in Hyde Park, NY on July 13, 2025; at the age of 79. He was born in Yonkers, NY on May 24, 1946, son of the late George Decker McSpedon and Mary (nee Fennessey) McSpedon.
George proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from December 21, 1965 and received an honorable discharge on December 11, 1967. He was decorated with 2 Bronze Stars, and achieved rank of an E-5 Sergeant.
On June 16, 1979 in Glenham, NY, he married the love of his life, Ellen L. White, who survives him at home.
George was an avid worker, he loved working with his hands; from construction to cars, and even his yard. He worked for over 15-years for the Operating Engineers Local Union 137 of Briarcliff Manor. Later, he went on to owned and operated his own construction company, the Du-Put Construction Company from 1980 until his passing.
Along with his wife 46-years of marriage, Ellen McSpedon, George is survived by his two daughters Kelly McSpedon and Wendy McSpedon; and his three sons from a previous marriage: Philip McSpedon, George Decker McSpedon and Michael McSpedon. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, and his sister Christine McSpedon.
Along with his parents, George was predeceased by his brother, Walter McSpedon and his sister, Doreen Von Essen.
His Family will gather with Friends to remember and honor his life on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 5-8PM at the DELEHANTY FUNERAL HOME, 64 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York, where Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Army at 7:30PM. Interment will be private at the discretion of his family.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes for memorial donations to be made to either the American Cancer Society, 2678 South Road, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or to the Hudson Valley Hospice House, 542 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
