James F. O'Connor

1947 - 2022

OBITUARY

On Saturday, December 17th 2022 our beloved Jim O’Connor, was welcomed to heaven by our Lord, family and friends. His strength and continued humor throughout this past year’s fight against cancer was admirable. In this time he was grateful to share a visit, a laugh and maybe a jab your way if it fit. He embraced each day he had, and found a way to appreciate and compliment where he could.

Jim proudly served his country as a Marine Reservist, balancing work, night school and weekends on base. He was a dedicated golfer post retirement in 2010. Weather permitting he could be found on the golf course with his brother or crew of golf league friends. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. If he invited you to a BBQ you left full, as he was amazing at the grill and enjoyed researching and trying new recipes. Pairing good wines and sharing a beer or a good Irish whiskey will continue as a toast among his family. Besides following any and all golfers, he also stood by the Yankees, the NY Giants, and Marist basketball through thick and thin.

He will be remembered fondly for his fantastic sense of humor, his wit and his timing. He built a life and legacy to be proud of. He was a man of great integrity, with a love for his family that will never be forgotten.

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanne, his children Rich O’Connor, Erin Forrester (Jim), Brendan O’Connor and Beth Beasley (Tom), his grandchildren Peter, Nathen, Benjamin, Reggie, Ryan, Deacon, Stella and Noah. His siblings include Dennis O’Connor (Kathy), Mary Ellen O'Connor (John McFadden), Kevin O’Connor, Christina O’Connor, Peggy Petrucelli (Buddy), and his sister in law Yvette O’Connor. He is also survived by 12 nieces/nephews, and 32 great nieces/nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Andrew O’Connor, his parents, Andrew and Christina O’Connor, and nephew, Gregory Artaserse.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Ruth White, Christie Kwon, P.A. & the oncology team at Columbia Presbyterian, Dr. Edward Schneider of Wappingers Falls, and the compassionate care from Hudson Valley Hospice.
