James Francis Synnett

1928 - 2021

OBITUARY

James Francis Synnett, 93, died suddenly at his home on February 24, 2021 where he had lived for over 60 years.

He was born on January 9, 1928 in Beacon, NY and raised in Wappingers Falls, NY, the oldest son of parents Stephen and Mary Synnett along with his three brothers: Stephen, William, Donald and his sister Anna. He was the only surviving child.

He served his country and is a veteran of World War II. After his military service, he began working at New York Trap Rock in Wappingers Falls, NY and retired over 30 years ago.

James will always be remembered as ‘Uncle Jimmy’ to his family as he never married and had no children of his own, but treated his nieces and nephews like his children. He led a simple and honorable life – loved football, going to the horse track and was an avid reader of novels. Our fondest memories of growing up with ‘Uncle Jimmy’ include spending days with him learning to play chess and honing card game skills.

He helped those in need and gave to many charities including St. Jude’s, the Wounded Warrior and the ASPCA. James will be missed dearly by all of his remaining family and friends. He will be buried at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where his parents, brothers William, Donald and sister Anna are buried.

Arrangements entrusted to Delehanty Funeral Home 64 East Main Street Wappingers Falls, NY. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 5th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wappingers Falls, NY at 10 AM with interment to follow at St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.
