OBITUARY:
Jane Agfalvi, a resident of Poughkeepsie and formerly of Schenectady, NY, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 14, 2026; at the age of 90. She was born on January 5, 1936 in Poland, daughter of the late Ignacy Pawlak (her father) and Bronislawa Pietrasek (her mother).
Jane immigrated to the United States in 1951, and became a naturalized citizen in 1956; early on she worked for United Baking in Schenectady. Later on she worked as a dietary aide at St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady, until she retired.
Jane loved to cook, she was an avid New York Yankee fan; she also enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles.
Jane is survived by her three sons: Michael Agfalvi of Poughkeepsie, NY; Edward Agfalvi of Hagertown, MD; Robert (Kimberly) Agfalvi of Orting, WA. Her six grandchildren will also cherish her memory. She is also survived by her two brothers: John and Alex Pawlak; and several nieces & nephews.
Along with her beloved parents, Jane is predeceased by her siblings: Lodja (Novakovic), Stanley Pawlak, Wladaslawa (Paluch), and Henry Pawlak.
Her Family will gather for a graveside service on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11:00AM in the LaGrange Rural Cemetery, Overlook Road, Poughkeepsie, NY. Jane will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her light, her strength, her grace, and her resilience continue to inspire me. My condolences to all who loved her.
