1933 - 2021

OBITUARY

Joan Marie Conway was born on April 25, 1933, in Poughkeepsie, NY to Arthur and Mildred Conway. She was a graduate of Wappingers Central School in 1951 and married Robert Terralavoro on October 4, 1953, who passed away on January 15, 1997. During her long and beautiful life, Joan was the Secretary of the IBM Board of Governors, a member of the St. Francis Marian Guild, the St. Mary's Mother's Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernia, Antique Study Club of Dutchess County, and a volunteer with Vassar Brothers Hospital and Meals on Wheels. A lifelong game player, Joan loved her mahjong, canasta, and poker days with her pals.

Joan passed away peacefully after a quick but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on April 18th, just one week shy of her 88th birthday. She is pre-deceased by her only sister, and very best friend, Patricia Boyer, of Hopewell Junction, and her parents.

She is survived by her 5 children: Brian Terralavoro and his wife, Yolanda, of Hyde Park; Patricia Berberich and her partner, David Costello, of Wappingers Falls; Victoria Hayden of Wappingers Falls; Daniel Terralavoro and his wife Jody, of Newburgh; and Kristine Keane and her husband Christopher, of San Francisco, CA.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

At this time the family would like to express their gratitude to Hudson Valley Hospice for their loving care and kindness during Joan's last days, especially Jennifer Winkler, Jenny Schmaler, Maura Goring, and their entire beautiful staff.
