OBITUARY
John C Ruger, 81, of Wappingers Falls, New York, passed away on February 22, 2024. He was born on July 11, 1942 to Casper J. Ruger and Lillian C. Ruger (both predeceased). He was a lifelong resident of Wappingers Falls and retired from IBM Poughkeepsie. John was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He was also an avid classic car enthusiast who enjoyed restoring Fords and attending classic car shows. John had a love for animals and rescued many over the years. John is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Sandy and Suzanne Ruger and her husband Anthony Giacomelli, two Grandsons Brett and Brian Castro, and sister Fay Leone and her husband Pete, as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery on Wednesday, February 28th at 1pm. I first meet John when he became my neighbor in 1970 and moved in across the street from me when I was growing up. He was always a very nice man who worked very hard. Over the last 26 years, I have known John as a devoted companion to my sister, Vikki Hendershot. Even after she moved south, they continued with their relationship and talked several times each day and visited when they could. Two great memories that I have of John is that he drove my daughter in one of his special cars for her wedding and also that he purchased the house in the Poconos that my husband's family owned.
