OBITUARY

John W. (Bill) Hughes, 82, passed away at home on April 11, 2023. Bill was a lifelong resident of Wappingers Falls. He was born in Poughkeepsie on September 27, 1940 to John W. Hughes II and LeOra Hughes. He graduated from Wappingers Central in 1959 and then served four years in the United States Marine Corps. In 1967, he met his wife, Kathy, in Wildwood, NJ, and they were married for nearly 55 years. Bill worked at IBM in East Fishkill for over 30 years.


He is survived by his wife, three children, Tracy Yocum and her husband Gerett, Christine Higgins and her husband Sean, Steven Hughes and his wife Amy, seven grandchildren (Meghan, Ryan, Tyler, Brian, Catherine, Dylan, Conor), and his brother Gerald Hughes.


Throughout his life, Bill was an avid NY Mets fan, a member of the Mid Hudson Road Runners Club, and completed the Boston Marathon numerous times. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
