Joseph F. Nowak, Jr.

1937 - 2021

OBITUARY

Poughkeepsie, NY - Joseph Nowak left this world to join the love of his life on December 24, 2021. On October 26, 1957, he married his lifetime love, May (Bowling) Nowak, who preceded him in death on February 2, 2014. Joe was born January 9, 1937, to Irene and Joseph Nowak Sr. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

His whole working career was in the Supermarket business. He was proud that he was a manager for Pantry Pride for over 25 years. In his spare time, he loved to play his accordion. He was an accomplished player and was part of a local band, as he would say, "back in the day". We were told the band was a country band, but his love was to play polkas, something he continued to do for a long time at home.

Joe is survived by his two daughters, Susanne (Ralph) Heady of The Villages, FL., and Joanne (Michael) Nichols of Poughkeepsie. He is survived by three grandchildren, James (Kimberly) Heady of Middletown, CT., Kayla (Timothy) Bither of Silver Springs, FL., and Carissa Nichols (and her fiancée Andrew) of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Maximus and Zoe Heady in CT, and Alex and Joseph Bither in Silver Springs, FL. In addition, he is survived by his brother Al (Ceil) Nowak and two nephews.

Care has been entrusted to Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, at 9AM. There will be a Mass at St. Martin DePorres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Rd, Poughkeepsie at 10:30 AM.

His daughters would like to acknowledge his caretakers on the second floor of The Pines. We thank them these last years for their kindness, professionalism, and most of all, for their excellent care they gave him. Joe and his family really appreciated that very much. Thank you all who were involved in his care.
