OBITUARY
Joseph Stephen Mathe, a life-long Poughkeepsie resident, passed away on September 26, 2025 at the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Beacon; at the age of 72. He was born at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York on June 8, 1953, son of the late Joseph & Anna (nee Hagadus) Mathe.
Joe was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. He worked for over 30 years for New York State, at the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities; he was a developmental aide at the Taconic DDSO in Wassaic, NY until he retired.
Unfortunately after his parents predeceased him, Joe was left with no family only a longtime friendship with the Agfalvi Family, who helped care for him in his later years. A friendship truly grateful for, and he will be missed dearly.
