It was her ten great nieces and nephews and their families whom she dearly loved. She was proud of their accomplishments, and her generosity assisted them in achieving their life goals.
Having moved to New Jersey, Joyce entered the workforce in the telecommunications industry. A 40-year career saw her begin with Jersey Bell Telephone and retirement from Verizon. Joyce began as a switchboard operator and became a supervisor, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She often would say that she enjoyed working every day.
For over 50 years, Joyce traveled between her residence in Jersey City and Wappingers Falls. Joyce made it her priority to attend as many family events and holidays as possible. She was a Master of Working the bus schedules that would take her from Jersey City through Penn Station in NYC and up through the Hudson Valley to Wappingers Falls. Her life was made full by her attendance at her nieces and nephews life events. The joy it brought Joyce to be included in their lives was immeasurable.
Upon returning to Wappingers Falls from Jersey City, Joyce and Melva resided together and shared a sisterly bond that brought them much enjoyment. The love between them was something only sisters could understand. They truly enjoyed a good cup of tea in the afternoon sitting at the kitchen table where they discussed the events of the world and happenings of the family.
Joyce enjoyed travelling to many places, both in the United States and around the world. Her favorite trips included travelling throughout Europe and visiting family and friends in California.
Joyce was a kind, caring and generous person. She had a heart of gold and as family and friends, we were blessed that she was a part of our lives. She was a wonderful sister, aunt, great-aunt and a true friend.
