OBITUARY
Katherine Lillian Gallagher, a longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, NY; entered eternal rest on October 15, 2025; at the age of 78.
Katherine was born on June 26,1947 in Middletown, NY; as the first born child to the late Harold & Katherine Cole. She graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in The Bronx, NY, class of 1966. She obtained a full scholarship to Hunter College but decided to forego that scholarship to start her family.
Katherine married Peter Gallagher in 1968, moved to Hartsdale, NY and then Somers, NY, where she raised her family. Katherine worked with IBM, Avon, Mary Kay, Jamesway, Macy's, Caldor, Four Winds Hospital and Putnam Ridge Nursing Home. Katherine was an avid volunteer in the Somers community and was instrumental in developing Cub Scout Pack 1 in the 1970s and 1980s. She was a part of the Lake Lincolndale Property Owners Association as well as the Somers High School Marching Band parent association in the 1990s.
Katherine enjoyed art and dance including Belly Dancing, Country Line Dancing, and became a Bob Ross Certified Instructor. She also ran her own art business, Images in Oil, from her Somers home.
Katherine retired to Wappingers Falls, and continued her love for art by scrapbooking, knitting and crocheting and spending time with her family, being lovingly known to all as Nana.
Katherine is survived by her daughter Kerry Gallman (Thomas Sr.), her greatest pride and joy in life, her grandchildren, Thomas Jr., Jacqueline and Joshua of Wappingers Falls, NY, her brother Harold Cole (Jeanne), and her son. Katherine was predeceased by her parents, brother, Christopher Cole and sister, Ann Cole.
A Celebration of Life in Katherine’s honor will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Hughsonville Fire House, 88 Old Hopewell Road, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 from 2-4pm. Light refreshments will be served.
