OBITUARY:

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved dharma sister Lama Ani Dechi Palmo, (born, Elizabeth Jane Madill). Ordained as a nun in 1982 by Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche, Ani Dechi was one of the original residents of Kagyu Thubten Choling, helping to build the monastery and retreat facilities, and completing the first cycle of the three-year retreat. She was an enthusiastic practitioner of the Nyungne purification practice, completing over 200 sets, and led the daily chanting at the monastery for many years. She was mentor and friend to many, known for being welcoming and putting newcomers at ease. Many people name Ani Dechi as the one who helped them connect to the dharma and the array of Tibetan Buddhist practices in a personally meaningful way.
