Lawrence "Larry" Laffin

1959 - 2024

OBITUARY

Larry passed away at his home on April 3rd, at the age of 65, after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on January 16, 1959 to the late Robert and Barbara Laffin of Wappingers Falls, and was retired from the Anderson School for Autism. Larry married his love, the late Shirley (Travis) on October 11, 1986. Larry's love and joy for life was inspiring. He proudly displayed the American flag in his yard every day. Larry was an avid Jets and Yankees fan and enjoyed attending local Renegades games (especially on fireworks nights). Every holiday and shared meal brought happiness to his life. Larry always had a strong work ethic. He worked hard from the time he was a teen, at times working multiple jobs at once. His hard work could be seen everywhere, from his job performance, to his meticulously manicured yard, to his car, which he detailed to showroom ready condition (even on rainy days.) He loved animals. His dog Heidi, and his cats Morris and Tobey were always by his side. Even the wildlife in the woods surrounding his home, knew they could always count on him for a meal. Larry's family and friends were what he treasured most. We are all blessed to have had him touch our hearts and be a part of our lives. Larry is survived by his siblings Rene' (Steve) Ridge, Tim (Wanda) Laffin, Rhonda Laffin (Wendy VanVlack), Keith Laffin (Ed Bakter), Debby Swenson. In laws Marie (Al) Guadagno, Carol (Duke) Gorey, Barbara(Chuck) Shabani, Maggie Daniels, Del (Susan) Travis, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is predeceased by their daughter Jennifer Rose Laffin, sister Linda Manzo, and inlaws Paul Manzo, Reed Swenson, Elinor Kriezes, and Bruce Daniels. Following Larry's wishes, a graveside service will be held at St Mary's Church in Wappingers on April 13th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to local animal shelters or hospice.
