OBITUARY
Born Marie T. Imschweiler on October 18, 1925 in Manhattan, (Yorkville) NY. Married on Nov.14, 1947 to Theodore (Ted) C. Zager they celebrated 39 years together. Until his death in 1986. Marie worked for the Wappingers Falls Central School District as a Cafeteria worker (Cook) for 32 years until retirement on June 24,1997. She also volunteered at the Wappingers Lodge of Elks #2609 for many years.
She was presented with many awards: 1. Outstanding Service Commendation on Oct.3, 2008; 2. Exalted Ruler Award 2010-2011; as well as 3. Elk of the Year on March 26, 2011. Along with her years of service with the WCSD and Elks, she also volunteered her time to the Wappingers Senior Center where she made many friends. On October 18, 2020 on her 95th birthday, Marie was presented A Proclamation by the Dutchess County Legislature for a Very Happy Birthday. Many of her friends and family were present along with Dutchess County Legislator Joseph D. Cavaccini.
In her spare time Marie loved to garden, needlepoint and do projects in and around the house. She would think nothing of jumping on the riding mower or painting a room in the house. She kept busy all the time. Marie was predeceased by her mother Maria and Father William Imschweiler. (Husband) Theodore C. Zager October 1,1986. (Son) Theodore Zager who died on July 24, 2021. (Brother) Frank and sister-in-law Diana Imschweiler and Sister Bertha M. (Betty) Imschweiler.
Surviving members of family: Grandson Karl, (Rachel) and great grandson, Justin. Granddaughter Nicole Zager/Sinclair. Great grandchildren Kai and Justin Zager and Jaidyn Sinclair, Granddaughter Conniemarie Zager, Daughter in Law Dina (Badami) Zager, Granddaughter Lorraine Grant. Great granddaughter Alicia Grant. Great great grandsons Mason and Gabriel Grant. Grandson Chris Garrison (Sue). Granddaughter Michaeline Zager, Granddaughter Samantha Zager- Wheeler. Great granddaughters Katherine (Katie) Santoro and Emily Wheeler, Great grandson Shawn Garrison (Janine) and Great great grandsons Nunzio and Mateo Garrison. Niece Donna DeBitetto (Jim) and daughter Emily, Nephew Frank Imschweiler Jr. (Kelly) and their children William and Julia. Marie leaves behind many many friends and long time neighbor and family friend George Barain and his family. Lastly, her lovable happy go lucky dog DAISY who lives with BRUNO and Lorraine Grant. A visitation will be held at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 2 PM – 3 PM. Funeral service at 2:30 PM at the cemetery. Entombment to follow.
