OBITUARY
Wappingers Falls NY -- Maureen D. Porter of Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2021 at the age of 93, surrounded by family. Born March 13, 1928, Maureen was the daughter of John F. and Catherine E. (O’Toole) Doyle. She grew up in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, Graduated from Wood-Ridge High School in 1946 and Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing in Teaneck, New Jersey in 1950. In her early career she worked as Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital in Albany, N.Y and St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. She later worked as evening supervising nurse at Central Dutchess Nursing Home Wappingers Falls and Eden Park Nursing home Poughkeepsie, retiring from Nursing in 1984.
In 1952 she married James V. Porter from Sag Harbor, New York and they were happily married for 66 years until he passed in 2018. In 1993, they relocated to Brunswick, Maine and enjoyed a 24-year retirement moving back to Wappingers Falls in 2017 to be cared for by family.
Maureen is survived by her Children, Claire Minnuni (John) and Stephen Porter (Anita) both in Wappingers Falls, and Chris Porter in Warren, Maine. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday August 23 at Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E Main St. Wappingers Falls, NY from 4-7pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 10am Tuesday August 24, at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow at Wappingers Rural Cemetery.
