OBITUARY
Michael Joseph Cahill passed away peacefully in Wappingers Falls, NY on Wednesday, September 8th, 2021 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family. He was 79 years old.
Michael was born on December 8th, 1941 to Martin Cahill and Josephine O’Grady in Bronx, NY. On May 19th, 1962 he married Phyllis Barnot, the love of his life, who predeceased him in 2003.
Prior to retirement from Teamsters Local 456 in 2008, he worked at Castle Building Products in White Plains, NY. Michael loved fishing, bowling, golfing, and Off-Track Betting (OTB).
Michael and Phyllis lovingly raised their 4 children, Patricia Cooper-Cahill, who predeceased him, Linda Herlihy, Michael Cahill Jr., & Steven Cahill, in Queens, NY.
Michael was 1 of 10 children and will be deeply missed by his 2 surviving siblings: Thomas & Josephine; his 3 surviving children: Michael and his wife Debbie, Linda, & Steven; and his grandchildren: Matthew, Kevin Jr., Kristi, Shannon, Michael III, Bellarose, & Lillian; along with the rest of his large extended family. His absence will be felt year-round, but especially during holiday gatherings, which will be lacking in his excellent cooking & drink-making, as well as his sense of humor.
Calling hours will be held at Delehanty Funeral Home on Sunday, September 12th, 2021 from 4PM - 7PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St Mary’s Church in Fishkill, NY at 10AM on Monday September 13th, 2021 followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
