Nancy Ellen Hoolihan

1961 - 2023

OBITUARY

On Thursday May 4th at 8:45 PM, Nancy Ellen Hoolihan succumbed to her 8 year long battle with lung cancer at the age of 61. The daughter of Joyce and Kenneth Blom, she was a lifelong area resident attending Wappingers Central Schools and pursuing her nursing career at BOCES. She was employed at the former Highland Hospital in Beacon and continued her career providing Healthcare to her patients through other various rehabs and agencies in the area.

Nancy was a bright light to all who knew her, including the many “adoptive” children of the neighborhood that she took in as her own. Being an LPN of many years, she was a natural caregiver. Whenever a loved one had any kind of ailment, they would seek out her advice and expertise. Even with her fulfilling career, Nancy devoted her life to being an involved mother to her two kids. She never missed a single school function; not one football game, talent show, dance recital or concert. She made every seemingly small life event an important one and she never neglected to tell her kids how proud of them she was. Nancy enjoyed a plethora of activities including swimming, gardening, billiards, reading Stephen King suspense novels and watching romantic movies. Nancy was an adventurous, fun loving, warm and kind hearted woman who enjoyed life. She will be missed by all who were graced by her presence.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Michael Hoolihan; son, Christopher Hoolihan; daughter, Caitlyn Hoolihan and her fiancé, Sean Boles; grandchild, Luna Fae Hoolihan-Boles; brother, Gregory Blom and his fiancé, Pam Pavelock; along with many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Turner, her mother Joyce Blom, and her father Kenneth Blom.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Nancy’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org).

Interment will be held at a later date. Please visit the Delehanty Funeral website for details and updates.
