Norma J. Kieley

1935 - 2021

OBITUARY

Poughkeepsie, NY - Norma J. Kieley, resident of Woodland Pond of New Paltz, passed away Monday, February 22 at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie.


She was born Norma Jean Harle in Rome, NY, January 19, 1935, the daughter of Gwendolyn (Candee) and Stanley Harle. On October 12, 1957, in Cornwall, she married George J. Kieley, who predeceased her in 2017. They were former residents of the Town of LaGrange.


Norma was a 1956 graduate of the nursing program at Vassar Hospital. She was employed as a nurse at Vassar Hospital, The Dutchess County Infirmary, and in private duty positions where she performed with compassion and professionalism for close to 25 years


Norma was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She had a deep and abiding love for all and was happiest in the company of her family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. They were the light of her life and a great source of pride, joy and laughter.


Norma was a skilled crafter. She enjoyed knitting, counted cross stitching and crocheting. Her creations were as precise as they were beautiful. Norma was an outstanding cook. She was in her glory in the kitchen on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings. Her unforgettable meals for assembled family on those holidays were a manifestation of the love she had for her immediate and extended family.


Norma is survived by her sister, Patricia McQuillan of Wildwood Crest, NJ, a brother, Stuart Harle of Moore, OK, a daughter, Lisa Roberson (Roger) of Highland, sons, Steven Kieley (Barb) of Frankford, DE, George Kieley III (Nanaz) of Avon, CT, and Christopher Kieley of Poughkeepsie, grandchildren, Schuyler, Annalise, James and Delaney. She was predeceased by brothers William Harle and Stanley Harle.
