OBITUARY
Norma O’Rourke passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 6th, 2021 at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was 93 years old.
Norma was born on March 3rd, 1928 in Coldspring, NY. She was the daughter of the late James and Marion (Miller) Hocking. Norma graduated from Wappingers Central School in 1946. On October 27th, 1947, she married Philip O’Rourke, the love of her life, at St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls. They were married for 55 years. Norma and Phil lovingly raised their 3 children in the Village of Wappingers Falls, NY.
Norma was a member of St. Marys in Wappingers Falls and The Catholic Daughters of America. Norma was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary to Victor L Barcone Post No. 5913 Wappingers Falls. Norma volunteered at Mt. Alvernia Bingo and their Annual Christmas Craft Fair for many years.
Norma loved going on bus trips, camping in Lake George, playing bingo and nightly ice cream treats.
Norma is survived by her two daughters Denise Ciccone and Lisa Usavich. She is predeceased by her husband Phil (2002) and beloved son Roger (2012).
Norma will be deeply missed by her daughters Denise and husband Thomas Ciccone, Lisa and husband Mitchell Usavich. As well as her daughter-in-law Bonnie O’Rourke. Her 7 grandchildren: Megan Ciccone Adams (Roger), Tyler, Brian and Corey Usavich, Nicholas, Dennis and Kelly O’Rourke Liebig (Greg). Her Great Grandson Liam Adams.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Norma’s memory to Mt. Alvernia Retreat Center, P.O. Box 858, Delavergne Avenue, Wappingers Falls NY 12590 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls on Tuesday, August 10th at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
