OBITUARY
Ralph J. Holt Jr. age 69 of Wappinger Falls, NY passed away at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY on December 12, 2023. Ralph suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage on the evening of December 8, 2023, as he was surrounded by his family enjoying dinner for his 69th birthday. He was born in Lowell, MA on December 8, 1954, the eldest son of the late Sylvia and Ralph Holt Sr.
Ralph graduated from John Jay High School before studying Business at Dutchess Community College. Ralph pursued entrepreneurship after graduation, and eventually launched his own business. Ralph was passionate about his role as a business owner and property manager, working self-employed for his company, Acclaim Lawn Maintenance for over 30 years.
Ralph met the love of his life, Mary Jane (Parks) in 1973. The two met at a local bar in Wappinger Falls where he offered to buy Mary Jane a drink. Eventually she accepted, and their love story began. The two married on July 29, 1978 at St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction, NY. They were married for 45 years.
Ralph and Mary Jane went on to have two daughters, Shannon and Caitlin Holt. Ralph’s children meant the world to him. Shannon and Caitlin will always cherish fond memories of family vacations and dinners, soccer, holidays, attending the Dutchess County Fair, wine tastings, and so much more. His stimulating conversations, love, and advice will be deeply missed. His wisdom was well beyond this lifetime.
Ralph had a soft spot for his furry friends, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. He had several cats, but Abby chose him and their bond was special.
Ralph could often be found on the golf course playing 18-holes with his friends.
Ralph will always be remembered for his charisma and sense of humor, as well as his knowledge and advice. He made people smile, laugh, and learn. Ralph was a kind soul, always thinking about others before himself. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband and father and will miss Ralph every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him.
Ralph was preceded in death by his youngest brother Brian, and is survived by his wife Mary Jane, his children Shannon and Caitlin Holt, his brothers Dennis and Lori Holt, John and Denise Holt, Christopher and Karen Holt, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Ralph will be held on Monday, December 18th from 4PM to 8PM at Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, December 19th at 10AM at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY followed by interment in Wappingers Falls Rural Cemetery.
