OBITUARY

Reed Swenson, a lifelong resident of Wappingers Falls, passed away at his home on Monday May 24th. He was 59.


Reed was born 6/22/61 to Jean (Van Scoy) Swenson and Carl Swenson Jr. He attended Mount St Mary's high school and was a graduate of Marist College, earning degrees in both accounting and finance.


Reed married Debby Laffin on May 21,1989, and they had a son, Parker in 1992.


Reed was the owner of Reed Hill, Ltd. Equestrian Wear and Fernbrook Farm. His passions were his family, his cows and ALL things Disney (even spending 42 days at Disney World with Parker!)


Reed was predeceased by his parents and his aunt, Bobby Van Scoy. In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by many cousins and in-laws. He will be greatly missed.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Make a Wish Foundation.


Visitation will be held at Delehanty Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 1 from 4-7 PM, interment will take place at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery on Wednesday, June 2 at 10:00 AM, attendees are invited to gather at the cemetery.


Delehanty Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with funeral arrangements.

Debby and Parker, I'm so sorry for the sudden death of your husband/father. My thoughts and prayers are with you both as you face the reality of his absence. May God bless you with the courage to face each day knowing that He walks with you. May Reed rest in peace.

I don't even know where to begin...such a large portion of my life was spent at Reed Hill with Reed, Debby, and Parker and the fond memories I have of them are too numerous to count. Reed was such an outgoing and generous human being! He had a wicked sense of humor and a HUGE heart! He was larger than life, and I can't believe he's gone. Debby and Park - I'm not going to make any trite remarks. Just know I love you both, and Scott and I will be there in any way we can for you guys.
