1933 - 2021
OBITUARY
Rose Mary “Rosemarie” D’Alcamo, a lifelong resident of Wappingers Falls, passed into heaven on October 16, 2021.
Rose Mary was born on January 22, 1933, the only child of Joseph and Sarah (cuchelo) D’Alcamo. She was brought up on Remsen Avenue; the family homestead was the heart of her family and it provided a home to not only Rose Mary and her mother, but to her grandmother (“Nonna”), her uncle, aunts, and six of her cousins as well. Rosemarie may have been an only child, but in fact she was considered the younger sister of her six cousins who also lived within the household. Hard times came and went, but the love of family, and the life lessons taught, kept them all strong and moving forward, together.
Rose Mary was educated within the Wappingers School District and then for many years she proudly worked for DeLaval/AlfaLaval Company in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of the Falls in Wappingers. Rosemarie will be remembered as someone who loved God, loved her family, and also loved to “chat” and tell stories of days gone by. Her eyes would light up and she’d smile whenever she remembered those days growing up with her six cousins. In her later years, she was lovingly cared for and watched over by her beloved cousin, Christine Normandin.
Aunt Sarah, Nonna, Uncle Joe, and the rest of the family who lived in the family home have welcomed her back to their table (in Heaven) and are celebrating that they are all safely home.
All of Rose Mary’s surviving family and friends feel blessed to have shared moments and to have made memories with this sweet soul.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 10:00 at St. Mary’s Church, Wappingers Falls, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Delehanty Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with funeral arrangements.
