OBITUARY:
Roy Lopez, a resident of Kissimmee, FL, formerly of Dutchess County, NY, passed away on November 25, 2025; at the age of 56. He was born in The Bronx, NY on October 9, 1969, son of Olga Acevedo and the late Adiel Lopez. He attended Truman High School in Co Op City Bronx, NY; He later on went back to school to proudly acquire his GED with his best friend Alice Ramirez-Sweeney.
Roy attended cosmetology school at Richard the First Cosmetology School, and received his license. He became a well known Cosmetologist in the Hudson Valley and went on to own and operate his own salon, The Roy Lopez Intrigue Salon in Fishkill, New York; until retiring from it. Six-years ago, he was so proud to have achieved his paralegal license.
Roy had a passion for musicals and painting; he also loved caring for animals, Disney, the beach, and watching new TV and Movies.
On October 31, 2011, at Kevin McCurdy’s Haunted Mansion (during the Autumn Blizzard), he married Chuck Morris, whom survives him at home.
Along with his husband of 14 years of marriage, Roy is survived by his two children: Savannah Lopez-Elderkin and Ory Lopez; his brother Ady Lopez and his mother Olga Acevedo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, family & dear friends, in particular his furry friends, Piper, Paige, Kit and a host of others.
His Family will gather with Friends to Remember & Celebrate his Life on Saturday, December 20th from 4-8PM at the DELEHANTY FUNERAL HOME, 64 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York, where a remembrance service will be offered at 7PM. Roy - an extension of my family! Growing up on Bruner Ave, was the best childhood experience I could have asked for. Carol is my best-friend, Alice was Roys and Ady was Tommy's. We were not neighbors we were a family! All of my memories make me laugh but the funniest was when he was practicing for cosmetology, he used Carol and I as Guinea Pigs - the funniest time was when he relaxed my hair because it is very Curley and he burned my baby hairs - He laughed so hard, I swear I can hear his laughter thinking of it! Roy you are still one of the funniest and loving cousins we had. You welcomed me with open arms always and grabbed my heart right away. Your laugh was so contagious, "Da wha" I can still hear in my head so clearly and just the way you loved us so deeply will always stay with me. Your "ugh" I just love you rings in my head. I Wish I could hug you. I have so many beautiful memories of you. Wish we got more time. Miss you so much. Roy was absolutely a rare soul with a personality larger than life!! He had a sincere love of people and helping others in any way he could. Such an incredibly talented cosmetologist!!!! Everyone Loved Roy and will miss him!!!! I wish I could write one memory, but with him there were MANY...Lol.... Where do I begin Roy was my childhood friend we met when we were 8 years old .I was shy but Roy wasn't haven't it .He made me confident and always had your back .I will always have the best childhood memories cause Roy your apart of them RIP my friend
