OBITUARY

On Tuesday October 15. 2024, Shirley Gilmore Raffaele Poillucci passed peacefully at home. She was born October 12. 1934 the daughter of the late Russel ana Leona Gilmore. Having found love twice in her life. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husbands Joe Raffaele and Lou Poillucci, as well as her son Joey. She was also predeceased by her brother Russel Gilmore, brother and sister-in-law Donny and Jane Gilmore and sister Jean Gilmore Smith. Shirley is survived by her children Jerry and Jude Raffaele and Aggie Poillucci, sister and brother-in-law Judy and James Downing, sisters-in-law Jean Gilmore and Charlotte Poillucci and many nieces and nephews. Born in Pittsfield, MA, Shirley moved as a young child to Poughkeepsie. NY where she attended local schools. She had made Hughsonville, NY her home for most of her adult life becoming a well-known member of that community thanks in part to Shirley's Square Dance Shop which she operated out of her home until her retirement. As a business owner, Shirley served many years as a member of the Wappingers Chamber of Commerce. Shirley also loved to golf especially since it included an enjoyable lunch out with the girls A devout Catholic, Shirley was a member of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls and loved attending religious study classes there. One of her fondest memories was a pilgrimage she made with her sister to honor Our Lady of Medjugorje in Bosnia. Shirley's love of life, warm smile and sweet disposition will be missed by her family and friends alike. You are invited to join in a celebration of her life. Visitation hours will be Tuesday Oct.22 from 4 to 8 pm at the Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday Oct. 23 at 10am at St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shirley's name to Hudson Valley Hospice of Dutchess County 374 Violet Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
