OBITUARY
Thomas J Tait, Jr., of Wappingers Falls, passed away Thursday January 28, 2021 in his home, after a brief battle with Cancer. He was 77 years old.
He was born in Beacon on December 27, 1943, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Tait. On June 20, 1970 in St Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls, he married Linda L. Cramer, who predeceased him.
Thomas served in the U.S. Navy where he learned to be a pipefitter, and was a member of Local 201 (later 21) Plumbers/Steamfitters until his retirement.
Thomas was very much a part of the community: he was a member of S.W. Johnson Engine Company 2 as well as the Victor L. Bracone V.F.W. Post #5913, both in the Village of Wappingers. He was also a Life Member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club, where he commanded ‘Doc Buster,’ named for the ingenious way he docked the tri-hull cabin cruiser, and later ‘Knothead,’ named for Woody Woodpecker’s nephew.
One of Thomas’ greatest pleasures was taking his family camping. He borrowed a tent in 1979 and headed out to Hammonasset Beach State Park in Connecticut, and was hooked after that. Besides the annual trips to Hammonasset Thomas took his family camping everywhere from Fiddler’s Bridge to Walt Disney World, where a lifetime of great memories were made.
Thomas is survived by his sons, Thomas J. Tait III and his partner Monique Brennan, of Highland, John V. Tait of Peekskill, and Trevor R. Tait of Union Vale, grandchildren, Abigail, Tanner, Xander and Peyton, sisters Kathy (Ken) Jennings, Mary (Charles) McCluskey, Regina (Tom) Berta, brother-in-law Lajos Szanto, and in-laws Carol and Ed Wright.
In addition to wife Linda, Thomas is predeceased by brothers Francis and John Tait, sister Elizabeth Szanto, and daughter-in-law Vanessa Tait.
Thomas’ sons wish to recognize the efforts of Hudson Valley Cancer Center and Hospice of the Hudson Valley, as well as the great care he received from JANE’s Home Care, Fishkill.

To Trevor, John, Tommy and Kathy Jennings , Debbie and I are so sorry for your loss. We have known "Taiter" for over 45 years going back to our Firehouse days , playing softball and of course working for my brother Richie on weekends putting in concrete. Your dad was such a great guy to be around , I had many laughs with "Taiter" as well as everyone else who knew him. Your Mom was just wonderful and so understanding they were a fun couple to be around.
You boys had a wonderful father , Kathy we loved your brother, and most of all , we will miss our friend Tommy ...
