OBITUARY:

Vincent J. Benedetto Sr., a life-long Village of Wappingers Falls resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 9, 2025 at his home; at the age of 81. He was born in Wappingers Falls, NY on August 9, 1944, son of the late Louis J. and Mary R. (nee DiMarco) Benedetto. Vincent attended St. Mary’s School and later attended Wappinger Central High School.


He worked for many years as a laborer and later, a foreman at Sun-Up Enterprises in Wappingers Falls, until he retired.


Vincent was a Life-Member of the S.W. Johnson Fire Co #2 of Wappingers Falls; where he served as a volunteer fireman for 60-years, and held the rank of Lieutenant for many years. He enjoyed cooking, especially for the firehouse, and also volunteered for Knights of Columbus events. He also enjoyed gardening, loved his vegetable garden but mostly his family he loved dearly.


Vincent is survived by his two sons, Vincent J. Benedetto Jr., and his wife Denise; Michael Benedetto and his wife Kathy. He is also survived by his beloved sister Mary Beth Krakower; his four grandchildren, Branden, Gabby, Ryan and Lindsay; 1 great-grandson Hudson Benedetto, and several nieces, nephews & friends.


Along with his parents, Vincent was predeceased by his two brothers Robert Benedetto and Louis J. Benedetto Jr..


His Family will receive Friends on Friday, December 12th from 3-7PM at the DELEHANTY FUNERAL HOME, 64 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10AM, Saturday, December 13th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 11 Clinton St., Wappingers Falls, followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

I was saddened to see Vinny's obituary - I knew all three of the Benedetto "boys" very well, and they were all great guys. The world was definitely a better place with them in it.
