OBITUARY:
Virginia M. Holtman, a long-time Poughkeepsie resident, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at the age of 91.
Born on April 11, 1935, in Flushing, Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late James and Miriam (Lanigan) Dullahan.
On August 16, 1956, Virginia married the love of her life, Louis S. Holtman, at St. Andrew Avellino Catholic Church in Flushing. She was predeceased by her husband after sharing 56 wonderful years of marriage.
Virginia began her career as a secretary with IBM in Manhattan before dedicating herself to raising her family as a homemaker after settling in Poughkeepsie.
Family was the center of Virginia's life. She is survived by her three loving sons: Daniel Holtman of Poughkeepsie, Stephen (Susanne) Holtman of Hopewell Junction, and Michael (Jill) Holtman of Red Hook. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Emily (Ryan) Kirman, Brian, Michael, Sarah, and Laura, as well as her first great-grandchild, who is expected soon.
In addition to her beloved husband, Virginia was predeceased by her son, James Holtman, her brother, Thomas Dullahan; and her infant brother, James Dullahan.
A faithful communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wappingers Falls, Virginia will also be fondly remembered by her dear friend, Lorraine Carbone, and by the many friends she made through the Poughkeepsie Senior Center.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at DELEHANTY FUNERAL HOME, 64 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Private interment will take place at a later date at Calverton National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
