OBITUARY

Warren H. Peterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully at his home on September 11, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born on September 10, 1943, in Everett, PA, Warren was the son of the late Warren L. and Gladys Fay (née Warsing) Peterson.

On April 25, 1970, Warren married the love of his life, Lorraine E. Scism, at The Episcopal Church of St. John the Evangelist in Barrytown, NY. For 55 years they shared a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories together.

Warren dedicated 44 years of his career as an engineer at the IBM Plant in Poughkeepsie, NY, where his steady work ethic and problem-solving nature left a lasting mark. Beyond his career, he gave back to his community with pride, serving as Chief of the New Hamburg Fire Department in the early 1980s.

A man of many passions, Warren loved the thrill of car racing and the timeless game of baseball. He was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Yankees and NASCAR, and could often be found cheering from the stands or the living room couch with his family close by.

Above all, Warren’s heart belonged to his family. Along with his devoted wife Lorraine, he is survived by his sons Stephen Peterson and his wife Stacey, and John Peterson and his wife Rosa. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren—Melanie, Shane, Jackie, and Henry Peterson, and Elianna and Elianny Abreu—and a delighted great-grandfather to little Abiel Abreu. Warren also leaves behind his brother Daniel Peterson and his wife Carolyn, three nieces—Rebecca, Kimberly, and Karen—and many great-nieces and nephews.

His Family and friends will gather to celebrate Warren’s life on Friday, September 19th, from 10–11 AM at DELEHANTY FUNERAL HOME, 64 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY. A service will follow at 11 AM, with interment at St. John the Evangelist Church Cemetery in Barrytown, NY.

Warren will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his service to the community, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. His legacy of love and kindness will live on in all who knew him.
